Abandoned software
Your software supplier disappeared? We'll take it over
The software still works, but nobody answers the phone anymore and every change is a risk. We secure code, data and access, figure out how the software works and take over maintenance, even if it's old and undocumented.
- 15+ years of experience
- A dedicated point of contact
- Free, no-obligation first consultation
Sound familiar?
- The supplier no longer answers, closed down or retired.
- Nobody has the source code, or you don't know where it is.
- Only they had the server and database passwords.
- You need a change (a new regulation, a report, an integration) and nobody can make it.
- You fear that one day it will stop working and there will be nobody to call.
- Other suppliers told you the only option is to rebuild everything from scratch.
What happens if you wait
Today it's software nobody dares to touch. Tomorrow it's a system update that breaks it, a server failing without a valid backup, a legal requirement you can't meet. At that point the emergency costs far more than the fix.
How we work
-
1
Secure everything
We recover source code, database and access, and immediately make a complete, verified backup. The biggest risk is gone.
-
2
Code analysis
We read the code and understand how the software really works, even if it's old or poorly written. We rebuild the missing documentation.
-
3
Action plan
We tell you what makes sense: maintaining it, improving it one piece at a time or, only if it isn't worth it, replacing it. With clear timing and costs.
-
4
Ongoing maintenance
We take care of fixes, updates and new features. Your software has someone who answers again.
What you get
Code and data secured
Verified backup of code and database, access recovered and stored safely.
Documentation
A clear description of how the software works, useful today and in the future.
Risk map
What can break, how likely it is and what to fix first.
A point of contact
A contact who knows your software and answers when you need it.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work on software written by another developer?
Yes. The first step is always reading the existing code and understanding how it works, before touching anything.
What if I don't have the source code?
It depends on what's there: sometimes the code is on the server, sometimes it can be recovered from the old supplier or a backup. If it really doesn't exist, we assess together whether rebuilding only the essential features makes sense.
The software is old and built on outdated technology: can it still be saved?
Often yes. With over 15 years of experience on legacy systems too, we know you secure it first and then update it one piece at a time, without stopping the business.
Do I have to rebuild everything from scratch?
It's almost never the first choice. A full rewrite is expensive and brings new risks: we suggest it only if the analysis shows it really pays off.
How much does taking over a software project cost?
It depends on the size and condition of the software. After the free first consultation you receive a proposal with clear timing and costs, before any work starts.
